Within 2 hours’ drive of the English border, Snowdonia National Park is known for boasting England and Wales’s highest peak. But there’s much more to Snowdonia than lofty mountains.
Talk a stroll in ancient woodlands and you’re almost certain to stumble across an ancient stone bridge spanning a rushing stream.
Follow the road and it’s likely you’ll soon come across an attractive town or village, with buildings made of local stone huddling together. Betws-y-Coed, Beddgelert and Dolgellau
The park is ringed by medieval towns. Conwy, Caernarfon and Harlech boast spectacular castles and town walls, not to mention stunning coastal locations.
There are still the mountains, of course. But if the weather’s unkind, or hill walking’s not your thing, Snowdonia still has plenty to offer.
