Attached reminder of lovely sailing days around Anglesey.  August was a bit of a horror but with hurricane Bill out of the way September/October is proving to be kinder.  I can’t promise but predictions are for fairer weather so if you want some precious sailing days before winter conditions arrive contact me please.

I will be happy to discuss terms with anyone wishing to take up a spare place to make up the full RYA compliment of five students to one instructor on any courses.

Trains are expected to reach the Summit by Mid June.  

The new visitor centre is a unique designed structure built of granite with large views from the “window on the world” wall of glass which makes up the front of the centre.  It acts as a terminus for the Snowdon Mountain Railway providing refreshment facilities, toilets and interpretation of the mountain, its history and ways to enjoy it.  Much of the interpretation is built into the structure.

Lines of poetry from the former National Poet of Wales, Gwyn Thomas, are also built into the building which will at last provide a suitable structure as the highest building in Wales and England.

Come and see a magnificent selection of the finest and rare Classic Cars in North Wales - and why take a ride on the railway and see Hafod Eryri, the New Snowdon Summit Visitor Centre. On Saturday 13th June, members of the North Wales Automobile Car Club will be exhibiting their excellent cars at Llanberis Station.

Saturday night will see the 20th celebration of the Penmaenmawr Promenade and 5 years of being awarded the blue flag with the ‘Party on the Prom’ Live music and bar… Public transport will be provided via trains, buses and Park & Ride schemes to help elevate traffic congestion.  Thunder Tour has had a fantastic welcome by the North Wales community especially around Penmaenmawr, Conwy and Llandudno! The whole weekend will focus on all aspects of the community, their fantastic talented artists, sportsmen and women, food and funfairs. There is something for everyone a weekend ‘definitely not to miss!’

The most important measurements in this particular survey will be made with an electromagnetic system; this records variations of electrical conductivity in the shallow earth which may reflect land quality. The plane’s other sensors measure magnetism, which can indicate rock type and structure, and natural gamma spectrometry, which reflects mainly the type and condition of the soils.

David Schofield, senior geologist at the British Geological Survey said: “Anglesey has been the subject of geological controversy from the earliest days of the geological sciences. Some of the oldest rock in the British Isles, south of the Scottish Highlands are preserved on Anglesey and the island has long been considered by scientists as a ‘test-bed’ for understanding the processes by which the fundamental building blocks of southern Britain were assembled.”

“The most recent geological survey was published in 1920, however significant advances in geological sciences and a large body of research carried out on the island have necessitated this new survey. Our mapping team will be using all the modern techniques available to bring the map up to a modern standard. Of these, the airborne survey will probably provide one of the most significant new datasets for interpreting the geology.”
